Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings Faces GOP Fire Ahead of Possible Governor Run

Jerry Demings Rumored Florida Governor Run

Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings may decide to run for Governor in Florida, and he’s taking fire before he is even in the race. The Florida Agency for Fiscal Oversight is looking at Orange County, claiming the county far overspends your tax dollars. Florida’s Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia says that number is nearly 200 million dollars in money that should be sent back to taxpayers.

“It is high time that the taxpayers are armed with the information that they need to hold their locally elected officials accountable” Ingoglia said at a press conference held in a restaurant supply depot. “The people of Florida are sick and tired of the wasteful spending of tax dollars.”

However, the agency has not released any details yet on how the money is being wasted, or where it is going. Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings responded at a hastily called press conference. “He used some fuzzy math” Demings said.

“The residents of the state of Florida are sick and tired of it,” Demings said. “They’re sick and tired of those bureaucrats in Tallahassee dividing us, dividing us along political lines. The rhetoric that you heard today is simply a lie. It has little to do with Orange County and Orange County government and whether we are working efficiently.”

This could be a coordinated attack on Mayor Demings. On the same day Ingoglia ripped into Demings, the Republican Party of Florida reacted to a story in Florida Politics reporting Demings will run for Governor, something he has not announced. The party issued a press release disparaging Demings.

“Jerry Demings’ run for Governor will end the same way his wife’s Senate campaign did – crushed by 16 points in a complete and utter rejection of the Democrats’ failed liberal policies and their lack of backbone” the release stated. ”This is the sequel nobody asked for. He’s weak, out of touch, and desperate to keep the Demings name in the headlines. The Demings family’s latest power grab doesn’t stand a chance.”

With all the noise, and the attacks against him, Jerry Demings is defiant. Will he run?

“I’m not saying I’m not going to run. Given all these things that have been happening? I might just do that,” Demings asserted.
