With America’s 250th anniversary, cities around Central Florida plan to celebrate the holiday — some in traditional ways and others with unique twists on the American holiday.
Winter Garden Heritage Foundation’s “What Does America Mean to You?” Photo Contest
Winter Garden Heritage Foundation invites residents of West Orange County to share images showing their personal American story. Launched in honor of America’s 250th anniversary, the community photo contest encourages residents to celebrate “the everyday moments, familiar places, and quiet pride that make this corner of America truly special,” according to the foundation’s site.
Participants are asked to submit a photo along with one sentence explaining why it is meaningful. The photo may be from any point in the resident’s lifetime but must be an original and nonprofessional photograph.
Catie Moore, marketing and events coordinator for WGHF, said the inspiration behind the contest was “to give West Orange County residents a chance to tell their own American story through everyday moments.” Moore says the messages submitted so far show how deeply people connect family, freedom, service, community, and home.
The submission window is open from April 15 to Aug. 31 at 1 p.m. The winner is determined by online public voting, which will run from Sept. 1 to 25. The grand prize is $250 in cash, and the winning photo will be inducted into the WGHF’s permanent digital archives. To be eligible, entrants must be residents of Gotha, Horizon West, Ocoee, Oakland, Windermere, or Winter Garden.
250th Celebration of the U.S. with the Great American Big Band
The Great American Big Band will showcase music throughout the decades to celebrate the American spirit. The modern ensemble is dedicated to bringing the big band sounds of the 1920s, ‘30s, and ‘40s to life through the essence of jazz and swing music. The concert will be at Winter Park Central Stage on Wednesday, July 1, at 7:30 p.m.
Red Hot & Boom
Marking its 29th year, Altamonte Springs’ Red Hot & Boom celebration features live performances by country singer-songwriter Chris Lane and bands Wish Radio and Blue Stone Circle. In past years, the event has drawn between 150,000 and 200,000 people.
While admission to the event is free, attendees can purchase access to the Oasis Beer Garden VIP Experience for an additional charge. The upgraded ticket includes a free drink, along with exclusive food, beer, spirits, cocktails, and a covered lounge space. VIP ticket holders will also be granted access to a private viewing area for the fireworks show. The event runs from 5 to 10 p.m. on Friday, July 3, with the fireworks beginning around 9:30 p.m.
Sanford Jazz Ensemble – An American 250 Tribute
The Ritz Theater in Sanford hosts a live concert honoring 250 years of American history through music. The Sanford Jazz Ensemble is a nonprofit organization composed of community musicians who donate their time and talent to perform for audiences throughout Central Florida. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 3.
AdventHealth July 4th Watermelon 5k

4th of July Celebration at Avalon Park
Avalon Park celebrates the holiday with several events on Saturday, July 4. The neighborhood promises a 5k, an apple pie competition, and a bike parade, along with live entertainment, a bounce house, and local food vendors.
The Firecracker 5k will start at 8 a.m. in Avalon Park’s Town Square. Participants are invited to run, jog, walk, or stroll through Downtown Avalon Park during this festive, annual family fun run. The first 150 runners to complete the 5k receive a medal.
Later in the evening, the 2026 Apple Pie Bake-Off will begin. Those who registered will bring in their homemade pies for judging. The winners will be announced at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Park Stage and will be awarded cash prizes.
Participants in the bike parade may bring patriotically decorated bikes, strollers, or wagons to the Avalon Park Gym and Wellness Center for a parade around Avalon Lake, beginning at 7 p.m. At the end, prizes will be distributed to the best and most creative entries. All other evening celebrations take place from 5 to 9 p.m. in Downtown Avalon Park. The fireworks finale closes out the night.
Orlando Fireworks at the Fountain 2026
The City of Orlando invites the public to celebrate July 4th with this year’s edition of Fireworks at the Fountain in Lake Eola Park. To honor two centuries of the American spirit, Lake Eola will feature live music, a dedicated play zone for kids, and local food and beverage vendors before the fireworks display. At night, the sky will erupt in a fireworks display synchronized with a live performance by the 70-member Orlando Concert Band. Fireworks at the Fountain 2026 is on Saturday, July 4, from 4 to 10 p.m. Admission is free for all ages.
Old Town Red, White, and Horsepower 4th of July Fest
Old Town, an 18-acre open-air entertainment district and amusement park celebrating 40 years in Kissimmee, plans a July 4th “rolling display of America’s most iconic automotive eras,” according to its website. Jason Saucier, marketing manager for Old Town, expects more than 200 cars, including cruisers, hot rods, classics, and antiques manufactured before 1985. Saucier said the cars begin arriving around 1 p.m. and will be on display until 8:30 p.m., when they’ll cruise around the Old Town main street. As the cars roll in, guests can enjoy live entertainment and music from 6 to 10 p.m., with a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m.
