Strength in Style: Inside the Pinkatude Experience in Winter Park

In the halls of the Grand Ballroom of the Winter Park Community Center on Saturday, October 18th, beauty met bravery in a night designed to honor warriors. The Pinkatude Experience, a fashion-infused tribute to breast cancer survivors, fighters, and supporters, brought together families, creators, and community leaders for an unforgettable evening of unity and purpose in Central Florida.

The event was the long-awaited vision of Ms. Lecia Paul, a breast cancer survivor and CEO of Bringin’ On Birthdays Inc. For ten years, she carried the dream of producing an event that would celebrate survivorship with heart—an event that didn’t just speak about awareness but showed it through story, artistry, and community.

“This wasn’t just a show. It was a celebration of life,” Lecia shared. “Pinkatude is about strength, gratitude, and fighting to celebrate more birthdays.”

Bringin’ On Birthdays Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring people to reclaim hope, celebrate more birthdays, and support others during life’s most challenging seasons. The organization also collaborates with other nonprofit partners that uplift the community and impacts youth through empowerment programs such as The Powerful Blossoms, a girls’ group that helps members use their energy to be creative rather than problematic. Lecia is also the owner of Lecia’s Fashion Catering & Boutique, where she uses wardrobe styling as a tool for confidence and personal expression. With Pinkatude, these two worlds—fashion and purpose—came together powerfully.

A Presentation of Heart and Intention

Hosted before a captivated audience, the production blended emotional testimony, uplifting entertainment, and stunning fashion presentations. Central Florida comedian Curtis Bateman delivered moments of joyful relief with clean comedy, while spoken word artist Precious Pyn used her poetic voice to remind attendees of the power of perseverance. Keynote speaker Justine Finocchiaro-Doles, a breast cancer survivor and leader of Warriors on Water—a local breast cancer dragon boat organization—shared a story of strength that resonated deeply with anyone who has ever faced life’s storms.

The program flowed like a story—one that acknowledged pain while celebrating triumph. Every scene was intentionally crafted to reflect themes of empowerment, love, and sisterhood.

A Moving Tribute to Survivors

One of the most emotional moments of the evening was the Pinkatude Survivor Walk. As Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song” filled the ballroom, survivors walked the runway one by one—then side by side—embracing each other in a moment of shared victory. Applause rose to a standing ovation, and there were few dry eyes in the room. This moment reminded everyone why breast cancer awareness is more than a campaign—it’s a human story.

Fashion With Purpose

Although Pinkatude featured multiple runway segments, fashion was not the focus—it was a vehicle for transformation. Under the direction of Model Coach Kemly “KC” Hollingsworth, who trained participating models for over six months, the runway became a platform of confidence and courage. Each model walked not just to showcase style, but to honor a purpose greater than the mirror.

The evening also featured a dynamic tribute directed by Hairstylist Keturah Gammons. With her models dressed in bold black ensembles, she presented a powerful performance that combined fashion, speaking, and inspiration symbolizing the emotional and spiritual journey of survival. Her artistic vision added depth and dimension to the night, reminding audiences that beauty comes in many forms—and resilience is the most striking of all.

Community Support in Action

The Pinkatude Experience also spotlighted local small businesses and woman-owned brands who came together to support the cause. Vendors included Klassy Kouture Fashions Boutique, Granny’s Kitchen Pound Cakes, Selina’s Bling, Angelina’s Fashion Eyewear, and, of course, Lecia’s Fashion Catering & Boutique.

Their participation helped create a vibrant and interactive atmosphere, proving once again that community impact grows stronger when small businesses and nonprofits work together.

A Night Built on Love, Faith, and Community

As the event host, I had the honor of experiencing Pinkatude both backstage and on stage. Serving as emcee and model allowed me to connect with survivors, volunteers, and contributors who each played a meaningful role in making the evening unforgettable. This wasn’t a show that came together overnight—it was built from heart, prayer, and purpose.

Special appreciation was extended to every volunteer, production assistant, glam artist, creative team member, runway coach, community supporter, and donor who contributed to making the Pinkatude vision a reality. It truly took a village—and that village showed up with love.

The Movement Continues

Pinkatude is not just an event—it is a movement built on compassion, courage, and community strength. Through Bringin’ On Birthdays Inc., Lecia Paul has transformed her journey of survival into a mission of service, inspiring others to keep going, keep fighting, and most of all, keep celebrating life.

As attendees left the ballroom, there was a shared sense of purpose—this was just the beginning. Pinkatude will return, bigger and even more impactful, continuing to shine a light on the fighters who refuse to give up hope.
